The Beryl Research Project

Current Work

With the basic techniques LIBS and BEAMS developed, the next step is to build a significantly large database of analyses of samples from widely dispersed sources, while steadily developing and refining more advanced technology for analysis. Though the methods can be applied to virtually any minerals, it is logical to continue with the work on beryl, building that database to a useful size before moving to other materials. Researchers from the Smithsonian Institution, New Mexico State University, Princeton University, and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln are contributing to, and working on projects for the BRP.
